ASRock X470 Taichi AMD Ryzen Motherboard Review

Closer Look / Product Photos

The package looks typical for ASRock. A nice looking box has everything well described on the exterior part while inside we will find everything we may need for installation.

The package contents include quick installation guide, support CD, I/O shield, 4 x SATA data cables, ASRock SLI_HB_Bridge_2S card, two ASRock WiFi 2.4/5 GHz Antennas and two screws for M.2 Sockets.

The motherboard is kept in a popular Taichi theme. However what we can see is the new design of the chipset heatsink. You can see in the photos how great it looks like now.

There is also an additional heatsink on one of the M.2 sockets which is linked to the full 32Gbps bus. It’s actually a good idea as some M.2 SSD are getting really hot during work. The second M.2 socket supports all NVMe SSD but we can count on about half of the maximum bandwidth so close to 1700MB/s.

I won’t describe all the devices as the list is really long and most of them are popular in the higher series motherboards so we were talking about them many times. Two of them are Intel network adapters. Both LAN and WiFi/Bluetooth are the best we can find in the motherboards.

The X470 Taichi offers 16 power phases. It’s a lot for an AM4 motherboard and is for sure a good sign for all who love overclocking.

As usual in the case of ASRock, PCB is well designed and we can find everything where it’s expected.

There are also things which are missing for me. Nothing serious for most users but I guess that overclockers wish to see the power and reset buttons. We can find them on the higher version – Taichi Ultimate.
