ASRock Z77-Professional Motherboard Review

Overclocking and Overclocked Results

Disclaimer: Overclocking your CPU means operating your CPU and motherboard outside of their design specifications, it can cause damage to them or kill them and may void their warranties depending on the manufacturer’s policies!

I limited myself to 1.45 vcore for overclocking, a that is generally considered to be towards the top of the safe range for overclocking. If you do overclock, be aware that heat is quite important as well, I used a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme cooler. It does a good job, core temperatures stayed under 65c through all the benchmarks.

Despite only using 1.45 vcore I managed just shy of 4.8 GHz on the CPU and a bit over 2218MHz on the ram while retaining the 7-10-7-1t timings. This board really does clock ram quite well!

This is especially impressive as I am very familiar with this CPU and the best I have managed at this voltage level on any other board (I’ve tried a few!) is a bit short of 4500MHz. 300 extra MHz at the same voltage speaks well of the ASRock Z77 Professional’s overclocking abilities!

WPrime V1.55

That’s quite a gain in speed eh? Not too far short of breaking 5 seconds really. I’ll revisit WPrime in a bit.

3DMark Vantage

32k with a quad core? Gotta love that. This is a brutally intense test too.

Cinebench 11.5

Ha! Stomps a 12 core AMD, not at all far short of a 8 core 16 thread server CPU either!

Maxxmem Memory Test

Wow. Just wow. 1772!?  That’s incredible.

Lastly I reset everything to stock and used the F-Stream Tuner to overclock in windows to see how high I could go, testing with WPrime 32M. Curious what I could get? Check out the picture below:

Incredible! I am quite impressed by this board.
