ASRock Z77-Professional Motherboard Review

We’ve got something seriously new here today folks, a shiny just-out-of-NDA motherboard from ASRock! It looks to be aimed at the high end gamer/overclocker market, as evidenced by the features list and the face of some gamer guy (Ok it’s Fatal1ty, not just anybody) plastered on the box.

I’m more of an overclocker than a gamer, so some of the features are likely to be over my head. I’ll test them anyway for giggles however. The overclocking features I’ll dig my teeth into and shake around a bit!

Before that, a word from ASRock about their company:

ASRock Inc. is established in 2002, specialized in the field of motherboards. ASRock strives to build up its own brand. With the 3C design concept, “Creativity, Consideration, Cost-effectiveness”, the company explores the limit of motherboards manufacturing while paying attention on the eco issue at the same time, developing products with the consideration of eco-friendly concept.

ASRock has been growing fast and become world third largest motherboard brand with headquarter in Taipei, Taiwan and branches in Europe and the USA. The young and vibrant company targets from mainstream to enthusiast MB segments for different kinds of users, owning reputation around the world market with its reliability and proficiency.

To test the ASRock Z77 Professional, I used the following components which included … an Intel Core i7 2600k “Sandy Bridge” processor, a pair of G.Skill RipjawsX ram rated at 2133-7-10-7-1t, a MSI HD 6970 graphics card, an OCZ Agility 3 120 GB SSD, an Antec HCP-850W PSU and a Thermaltake Overseer RX-I tower ATX Case.
