BIOSTAR Racing X570GT8 Motherboard Review

With the recent release of AMD’s phenomenally successful Ryzen 3000-series processors, we are now seeing a lot of motherboard manufacturers flocking to release their X570 motherboards. Last month, we’ve had the pleasure in reviewing the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X and the X570 Steel Legend motherboards, both proved to be very good motherboards that offered excellent performance, and great value for money.

So today, thanks to BIOSTAR, we’ll be taking a quick look at their Racing X570GT8 Motherboard. This motherboard is aimed and targeted at the mainstream market, and utilizes the X570 chipset suitable for all AMD’s 2nd Gen and their latest 3rd Gen Ryzen processors using the AM4 socket. The main feature includes the new PCIE 4.0 standard on 3 PCIe 4.0 x16 slots, two of which has Iron slot protection, as well as 3 PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. There’s 3 M.2 slots for SSDs (PCIe 4.0), and Intel Gigabit LAN for connectivity.

It can also support memory speeds of up to DDR4- 4400+ (OC), and comes with 7.1 CH HD Audio (Realtek ALC1220 Audio Codec), Dual BIOS, M.2 cooling, VIVID LED DJ, as well as onboard reset and power on/off  buttons.

I would like to thank BIOSTAR for providing the review sample. Here’s a little blurb about BIOSTAR taken from their website …

In 1980,the IT industry was growing at a phenomenal rate. With wide experience in buying and selling electronic parts as well as researching on future demands for mainboards and add-on cards , the founder of BIOSTAR GROUP,established BIOSTAR MICROTECH INTERNATIONAL CORP in 1986.

In the early years, BIOSTAR concentrated on the manufacture of mainboards built for XT form factor. To maintain steady business growth, BIOSTAR managed to keep a large portion of its capital and manpower invested on the design and development of new products, which at the same time has enabled it to stay competitive in the rapid evolution of the computer industry.

BIOSTAR has enriched its competence in the design and manufacture of products such as add-on cards, multi-media and system products to develop the market and meet the demands of customers for more integrated solutions. In order to expand its capacity to meet customer demand globally, BIOSTAR was the first to establish a manufacturing facility in China in 1990. In 1998, its sales revenues exceeded US$130 million and it ranked 227th among the top 1000 enterprises in Taiwan. Furthermore,BIOSTAR obtained an ISO 9001 certification in 1999 and became a publicly listed company in the same year. BIOSTAR’s future has limitless possibilities.

The feature list of the BIOSTAR Racing X570GT8 Motherboard surely looks impressive. But it’s not just all about features alone … stability, reliability and performance all count towards the final score. I’m interested to see how this mainstream motherboard will compete against the enthusiast boards from the more established brands.

As usual, we’ll be using AMD’s latest Ryzen 7 3700X processor featuring 8 cores/16 threads, and a massive 32MB of L3 cache, along with a GeForce RTX 2080. So far, this setup haven’t let me down yet. It’s powerful enough and there shouldn’t be any bottlenecks. OK, let’s not waste any more time, and start by taking a look at the specifications and features of this motherboard.

You can buy the BIOSTAR Racing X570GT8 motherboard on Amazon and various other online retailers for around $169 USD. Links available soon.
