Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro WiFi Motherboard Review

Benchmarks

For benchmarking I am using a Ryzen 2700X CPU, 16GB of 3000MHz RAM, and a 1080TI.

For reference the CPU overclock is 4.1GHz with a +0.25 voltage offset and a GPU overclock shown below.

Cinebench R15

Stock

At stock the score was fairly impressive, using Ryzen master I saw CPU speeds auto boost up to 3.95GHz without any manual overclocking. Impressive but let’s see what my 4.1GHz OC can do.

Overclocked.

Once I applied the max stable OC the score bumped up nicely. The score was surprisingly close to my highest ever achieved score of 1831 on a X470 board with a 4.175GHz, Pretty impressive for a B450 board!

Time spy

Stock

While Time spy is more of a GPU benchmark it is a good indicator of how well this motherboard can manage handling all of the signals going back and forth between the CPU and GPU. At stock, the score was exactly as expected. With the same GPU and CPU at stock, you can score almost the exact same on any motherboard.

Overclocked

Once I applied the GPU/CPU overclock I saw a decent bump to the oversall score.

For a motherboard review, the CPU is what we want to pay attention too, And we saw a decent bump in the CPU score here.

WiFi VS Ethernet

This motherboard comes with an integrated WiFi antenna so let’s see how it matches up against the integrated ethernet.

Ethernet.

Using the integrated ethernet on this motherboard returns speeds over my ISP set max speed of 200Mbps. Really impressive!

But what if your PC isn’t close enough to be hard-wired into your home internet?

Using the built-in WiFi with the external antenna my download speeds were cut almost in half but that could have been caused by interference from a number of items. Plus 74Mbps is still fast enough to download games quickly and provide smooth online gaming performance.

Overall WiFi performance is quite a bit lower than ethernet but that’s nothing new in the world of PC gaming. Like always if you have your PC close enough to be hard-wired into your network than do that but if you have to use WiFi your speeds will still be fast enough to deliver a decent experience.

ATTO Disk Benchmark

Whether overclocked or stock this benchmark was practically identical. Using my 256GB WD Black M.2 drive with about 30GB free I was able to score pretty close to the rated R/W speeds of the drive. Also, there was no noticeable difference between this motherboard and a X470 board.

Overall benchmark scores look really good coming in just below X470 performance. But for the general user, the difference in performance wouldn’t even be noticeable and the money you save buying this over a X470 board could go to a better GPU or CPU providing better overall performance for the money.

Now let’s take a look at the lighting!
