Gigabyte B660 Gaming X AX DDR4 Motherboard Review

Conclusion and Verdict

There a lot of things this motherboard has going for it. Finding a motherboard this cheap with built in Wi-Fi is going to be a challenge. So, the fact that this one has it is an awesome feature. Most budget motherboards also are hard to find that support more that one m.2 4×4. This one has two. So far this is going well for available spec that are relevant to end users. You are looking to save money of course so you are going to be missing a few of the creature comforts that we see on higher end motherboards like, RGB, heat sinks one every m.2, and more connections on the back of the board. All of these are nice to have but are not necessarily a must have. When choosing a motherboard just always go into the search know what you need and what you don’t. This bit of information can save you hundreds of dollars for features you could be paying for that you don’t need.  As you can see from the testing this has great m.2 transfer speeds and the testing results where right where they should have been with the hardware we had installed. A great motherboard for a great price.

If I had one area of performance, I was unsure about it was the RAM. I tried several different brands, different speeds, XMP no XMP and struggled to get anything to work by simply choosing XMP. I tried 3600 XMP RAM and even that wasn’t wanting to boot. I can’t rule out that it could have just been the RAM because it has been on the shelf for a while. The only way I could get it to work is if I left off XMP. Overclocking RAM can just be tricky and XMP is technically overclocking, and your mileage may vary even from processer to processor on the same board. I did update the bios and still luck. I will keep this part open because I am sure this is something a bios update can easily fix.  Other than the RAM not wanting to cooperate, the board was an awesome performer.

The Gigabyte B660 Gaming X AX DDR4 can be found on NewEgg as well as other various e-tailers for around $179.99 USD. Alternatively, you can buy the Gigabyte B660 Gaming X AX DDR4 Motherboard for around USD $169.99 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/39zCZBH
