SUPERO C9Z390-CG-IW Intel Coffee Lake Motherboard Review

Overclocking

Disclaimer: Overclocking is never guaranteed, so the results may vary depending on certain conditions and various hardware configurations. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what are you doing. High voltages may damage hardware and it will not be covered by warranty.

For overclocking tests has been used a typical AIO cooler with 240mm radiator – Enermax LIQFUSION RGB 240. Because of limited cooling potential, we were able to reach 5.3GHz at 1.45V. It’s about all for quick tests while thermal capacity let us stabilize the CPU at 5.1GHz and 1.35V.

More demanding tests like Intel Extreme Tuning Utility were able to pass at 5.2GHz so there is no problem to achieve that frequency as long as you have good enough cooling or above average CPU that won’t generate so much heat.

During the overclocking were no problems with power delivery. I can say that the motherboard can handle much more but of course, we won’t be able to do that on standard coolers or cheaper AIO. Below is also a result made in PCMark 10 at 5.2GHz. Even so long benchmark wasn’t a problem

SuperO surely improved memory compatibility and overclocking since the last series. We had no problem to stabilize our memory at DDR4-4133 what is more than enough for all gamers.
