Thermaltake TOUGHPOWER PF1 ARGB 1050W Power Supply Review

Conclusion and Verdict

As I’ve mentioned earlier, it’s unfortunate I wasn’t able to test the power supply using a high-end, power hungry graphics card such as a GeForce RXT 30-series or Radeon RX 68xx XT. So the results shown may not reflect the full power consumption of the system. Yes, I’m stuck with a Radeon RX 6500 XT … *sigh*

Still, we did use an Intel Core i9-1200KF which has a default TDP of 125W (and a whopping 240-250W during Turbo boost). What’s important is the +12V rail. And from our full load tests, both the +12V and +5V did not drop at all, which is is amazing. I’m more than confident, that this power supply can handle all the power-hungry components you throw at it, inculding all the latest high-end graphics card. Make sure you do your research and make sure you are able to meet the power requirements of your system when getting a new power supply.

What I like about the power supply is that it’s fully modular, and comes with some nice flat cables, which really helps with your cable management. It also comes with a ARGB sync header that allows you to connect the 3-pin cable to the motherboard to give you that full ARGB control.

Other features include ‘Mode’ and ‘ Color’ buttons, which as the name suggests, allows you change the modes and colors of the RGB 140mm fan. However, if the ARGB sync cable is connected, the RGB controls are done via your motherboard/software.

The Smart Zero fan on/off switch is quite useful. When it’s off, the fan spins continuously. When it’s on, it pauses the fan to allow users to run the PSU is super slient mode. When the PSU detects heavy load … the fan will automatic turn on and continue to spin.
