ARCTIC P402 BT Bluetooth Headset Review

A Closer Look

The P402 BT is very light in weight and minimalistic in size and shape; however the construction is definitely solid and made with quality materials. The earpads themselves are adequate and comfortable even with my larger ears. The speakers can even be rotated ninety degrees to allow the headset to stand in an upright position for storage.

The left earpiece is home to all of the headset’s controls. There is a Mini USB port for charging the headset that also has a cover to prevent dust or other contamination. Also situated near this area is the status LED and hidden microphone for communication. A dial that dually serves as the power button and colume control is also located in the area. Lastly forward and reverse buttons are also embedded here for further controlling your media device.

The headset is flexible and has a rubber coating to aid with comfort and durability. ARCTIC added some style and advertising finesse by imprinting their logo on each of the speakers. Each side of the headset is adjustable even for the largest of craniums.

Performance

Pairing the device per the user manual is really straight forward; just be sure to enable Bluetooth on your device accordingly. Connections were made flawlessly with both our Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 2 phones.

The sound and microphone quality for this headset is pretty good for routine day to day service. Audiophiles may want to look elsewhere for high-end sound, however that being said, this headset is more than adequate for casual listeners. With some equalizer tweaking on our devices the highs were crisp and the mid range was solid, with the low end just being okay. This headset will enhance your mobile experience, whether it be with music, gaming, or movies, or just communicating during phone conversations.

Range is pretty good, even through walls, as we had no trouble playing music in a separate office adjacent to the room containing our phones. No glitches or hiccups, such as stuttering or static, were experienced during our testing period. ARCTIC used quality components to assemble this headset as evident of our test findings.

Battery life is also excellent, thanks to the rechargeable lithium-ion battery. ARCTIC promises up to 30 hours of non-stop playback and delivered a product that lived up to that expectation during our testing! Recharging the headset from complete discharge only took a couple of hours, similar to our smart phones.

To answer a phone call with the headset, all that is required is to press the dial button. The P402 BT then automatically paused our music playback and answered the call for us. The conversation that took place was loud and clear with no distortion and our other party had no trouble hearing our voice through the internal microphone. This is a wonderful feature that other headsets have trouble perfecting.

And there we have it readers, a solid offering from ARCTIC! Let us go over some points and final thoughts in the conclusion of our review.
