The Box and Packaging

Inside the box, you’ll find the quick start guide, information on HyperX’s other products, the headset itself, a detachable noise-cancelling microphone, 2,4GHz wireless dongle, microphone pop filter (sponge), and a USB Type-C charging cable.

The Headset

You can feel the excellent build quality of the headset right away. You can see the quality stitching on the head band, and whole headset feels pretty solid in the hand. Thanks to the aluminum frame, the whole headset weighs in at only 300g, it feels extremely light-weight and because it’s wireless, you don’t feel any restriction in movement.

A Closer Look

The look of the Cloud II Wireless is so classic especially with the distinctive red Aluminum frame and the HyperX logo. I love it!

I love the HyperX logo on top of the head band, and also the braided cable connecting the left and right 53mm driver. The large over-ear ear cups are extremely comfortable thanks to HyperX’s signature memory foam and premium leatherette.

As for connectivity and controls, you’ll see the volume control on the right speaker, while on the left speaker you’ll find the power-on and mute buttons, as well as the USB-C charging port and the microphone jack for the detachable noise-cancelling microphone.

Audio Quality

Thanks to its large dynamic 53mm drivers with neodymium magnets, the headset offers good frequency response of 15Hz–20kHz (with nice deep lows) and crisp highs. And the 7.1 Surround Sound is perfect for immersing myself in first person shooters like COD, PUBG etc.

Watching YouTube videos and listening to music on Spotify was also very good. It produces good bass, crisp highs and decent mid-ranges, and when I wack the the volume to max … I didn’t get any distortion either.

Basically, the HyperX Cloud II Wireless headset … is the wireless version of the Cloud II, you get the all the best from the original award-winning Cloud II, but with no audio control box (don’t need it since it’s wireless).

Recording Quality

The quality of the audio recording was very good. You can hear the comparison of the the HyperX Cloud II Wireless versus the HyperX Quadcast microphone in the video below.  Overall, I’m more than happy with the audio quality of the voice recording. It’s crisp, clear and has good volume.

One thing which is quite unique to the HyperX Cloud II Wireless is the built-in mic monitoring. There’s no software involved, but it allows you to listen to your voice so you’re not speaking too loudly while the headset is on.

Comfort and Wear

Going wireless means I can move around my desk, standup and stretch my legs without getting all tangled with those wires. GONE are those awkward wires and cables … woohoo!  A wireless range of 20m is more than plenty, and with up to 30 hours of usage, I don’t have to worry about charging the headset for at least a full day.

The over-ear ear cups are soft and comfortable. I didn’t get any ear ‘aches’ on my ear lobes … The only thing you’ll have to worry about, is the sweat you’ll get from wearing the headset after several hours of gameplay. It’s recommended to take of the headset off and wrap it around your neck for a breather 😛

Conclusion and Verdict

I’ve been using the HyperX Cloud II Wireless headsets during our LIVE stream shows for a few weeks now, and I can say I’m extremely pleased with the headset.

The audio quality/voice recording from the noise cancelling microphone is excellent, it’s perfect for gaming and recording podcasts if you haven’t got a dedicated podcast mic. And with 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, I’m now able to move around my desk without having to worry about wires getting stuck or tangled. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to get a wireless headset. As for battery life, you get up to 30 hours of use from a single charge … that’s more than a full day’s worth of gaming, it’s more than anyone could ask for.

As with the original Cloud II, you get the same crisp highs, decent mid-ranges and good deep bass, thanks to its large 53mm driver with neodymium magnets. The large over-ear ear cups, as well as the HyperX Signature Comfort with its memory foam and premium leatherette, allows you to enjoy many hours of comfortable wear. And let’s not forget the 7.1 surround sound, which allows you to get some really intense and immersive gaming.
