Much like its bigger brother, the Momentum 2.0 Over-Ear headphones, the Momentum On-Ear Wireless comes inside a protective pouch which in turn is inside a carry case.
The first item inside the box that stands out is the airplane audio connector, which goes to highlight how much consideration Sennheiser has made to make the Momentum On-Ear Wireless as portable as possible. A standard audio cable is supplied in case the internal batteries run out and you need to carry on listening to your music, along with a micro-USB cable to charge up the Momentum On-Ear Wireless headphones.
Giving a full charge to the Momentum On-Ear Wireless headphones takes 3 hours, with which you will get 22 hours of playback time. I tested this out with the headphones playing constantly overnight, to wake up to the internal 600mAh to flat out just over 21 hours.
Pairing is done by long pressing the power button on the right side of the headphones, and you’ll be prompted with a female voice saying ‘pairing’. I’ve tried several different devices with Bluetooth and all would take nearly a minute to detect the Momentum On-Ear Wireless headphones, even when placed next to each other. Once detected, pairing is done in a matter of seconds. Normally, the manual that normally comes with any device I either leave inside the box, or throw it in the bin, but I’d advise you keep hold of it and there is a lot of useful information which you can quickly refer to. With Bluetooth, I found that the music would start to cut off when I moved about 10 feet away from the music source.
NFC pairing is just easy. Switch on the NFC function on your smartphone, and place the phone with a maximum distance of 3cm to the left ear cup (you’ll find a discreet NFC logo on it), and thats it.
