Tribit XSound Go Portable Wireless Speaker Review

Battery life

Simply put I’ve never had any Bluetooth device last as long as these speakers on a single charge.

The advertised 24HR battery life ended up being a slight under-estimate in my test! With both my phone and speakers set to 50% volume (Honestly too quite to be usable for much at this volume but a good baseline for testing) these speakers managed to pump out music for 25 hours and 48 minutes! Even at louder more usable volumes you should have no trouble using this speaker for an entire day of constant use on a single charge.

In a few years when you do need to charge the device the micro USB port as well as the 3.5mm jack for wired use are hidden behind a flap on the back meant to help make the speakers water-resistant (more on that later).

The flap that hides all the ports on this speaker.

Charging was similarly impressive going from dead to full in a little over 5 hours.

I will admit this one aspect was a little confusing for me since the instructions don’t give you an indication as to what the speakers light does when fully charged but I think I found out the light will stay a constant red when fully charged.

Overall this speaker doesn’t just have the greatest battery life of any speaker I’ve tried but the greatest battery life of any wireless device I’ve ever tried. This aspect scores an easy 5/5.

Bluetooth range

The range on this speaker is amazing. In my two-story house I wasn’t even able to find a place where my phone lost connection with the speaker, even with my phone in a closet up stairs behind numerous closed doors (including one metal) and my speaker outside in my garage the music continued to play flawlessly.

Durability

While I didn’t do any crazy drop test or anything like that I did put Tribit’s claim of IPX7 water resistance to the test.

For those of you that don’t know IPX7 is the same water resistance rating that most new smartphones have (Apple’s iPhone X has a IP67 rating meaning it is rated for dust resistance and water resistance in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes) and this means the XSound go should be able to survive complete immersion in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes too but doesn’t include any official dust resistance rating.

So in spite of my better judgement and the included safety warning saying not to immerse the speaker in water lets put the IPX7 to the test…

The picture of the most nerve-racking 30 minutes of my life.

And the speaker survived!

After playing music while fully submerged in water for 30 minutes it still worked like new. Sound did sound slightly worse immediately after pulling the speaker out of the water but once the speaker grill dried out everything returned to normal. It still charges and plays music like normal!

So while I would never recommend intentionally drowning your electronics this speaker should work great for a bathroom speaker (just don’t keep it in the shower) or as a pool side speaker once summer rolls around.

Even though I can’t put years of wear on this speaker in one week it survived a 30 minute bath without shorting out and with the rubberized outer coating this speaker should serve you well for years even if you spend lots of time outdoors or in wet environments. This device gets a solid 5/5 in the durability department.

Now onto final thoughts/Summary.
