BIOSTAR G330 256GB SSD Review

Verdict and Conclusion

Based on performance alone, the G330 offered slight improvement over the original G300. BIOSTAR claim 10% faster performance, which I think is about right.

Having a fairly fast SSD as boot drive is must these days, and I think the G330 is perfect for that. If the BIOSTAR brand is a concern for you … just think of this. It’s the performance and the quality of the components that really counts. In this case, the the G330 utilizes the new generation SMI SM2258 SSD controller, and Micron 3D TLC NAND chips, along with 256MB of DDR3 ram cache. I think these components are more than enough to put your mind at rest.

As you can see from the benchmarks on the previous page, the performance of the G330 is extremely good, so no complaints here. Read speeds reached an average 529-565Mb/s, while write speeds reached between 501-513MB/s. It falls in line with BIOSTAR’s own specifications. I love it when products perform as stated on the box 🙂

The BIOSTAR G330 is another great value SSD, but this time it offers better performance over the original G300, albeit marginal. I have not seen a retail price on this product yet, but my estimates is around USD $100-120 for the 256GB version.

Pros:

  • Very good performance
  • 2.5″ Ultra-slim 6.8mm
  • SATA3 6Gb/s interface
  • 256GB capacity with 256MB DDR3 Cache
  • Lightweight, Shockproof Design
  • Ultra-Fast Data Access
  • Silent, Low-Power Operation

Cons:

  • None I can think of

Final words:

If you’re after an affordable, fast SSD for a boot drive, then look no further … the BIOSTAR G330 has it all. Armed with a new generation SMI SM2258 SSD controller, Micron 3D TLC NAND chips, as well as 256MB of DDR3 cache and more capacity (256GB), the BIOSTAR G330 is one SSD not to be dismissed.
