BIOSTAR S120 – 256GB SATA SSD Review

Photos

The box contains the SSD drive wrapped in an anti-static packaging and a quick installation guide … and that’s it.

The S120 SSD

What makes this SSD super light-weight is its casing. It’s made from plastic, which of course reduces the cost of the SSD and thus making it extremely affordable. If you don’t like plastic … then the S120 may look and feel a little cheap. Having said that, the SSD is super slim at only 7.0mm thick … if that helps.

A Closer Look

It’s a case of half full rather than half empty here. The circuit board of the S120 is tiny and only occupies less than half of the entire 2.5″ casing.

You’ll find the tiny Maxio MAS0902 SSD controller on circuit board, along with 4 x NAND ICs, 2 on each side of the board. I’m not a fan of half empty SSDs … it just makes me feel a little “cheated” lol!
