Lexar 256GB Portable SSD Review

Conclusion

Lexar Portable SSD is high capacity storage which provides the best performance in mobile devices. As I mentioned earlier, I wish to see higher random transfers but it’s something I can live without as mobile storage need faster sequential bandwidth in most cases. On the other hand, it will be hard to find anything faster.

Lexar Portable SSD is availeble in capacities of 256GB and 512GB. It’s more than enough for most users and those who need more space can always use more than one device. They’re light and small so shouldn’t cause any issues.

Lexar is offering two year limited warranty on Portable SSD. It’s just a standard warranty nowadays and I won’t hide I wish to see it longer. On the other hand not many mobile devices have longer warranty what is also related to the way these devices are used.

Design of Portable SSD is quite unique comparing to other mobile drives on the market. We could see about the same exterior in other storage products from Professional Workflow line. Big advantage is that all card readers and drives from this product line are compatible with Professional Workflow four bay hub so we can work on multiple storage devices at the same time.

Lexar 256GB Portable SSD prices are starting from about $116 on Amazon. It’s not a bad price. Actually it’s pretty low comparing to the competitive products. I guess it will be slightly lower when product will be easier available. We have to remember that premiere of Lexar Portable SSD was last month so it’s still fresh product.

Pros:

  • High performance
  • Inexpensive
  • High quality
  • Unique design

Cons:

  • Random bandwidth performance could be better
  • Warranty could be longer

I recommend Lexar Portable SSD 256GB to all users who need really fast mobile storage for daily work. It’s fast, small and light so is perfect if you have to carry your work with you. All who need larger capacity storage can pick 512GB version of Lexar Portable SSD which is offering similar performance. Both versions are well priced and are one of the cheapest USB 3.0 SSD on the market.

Lexar Portable SSD is clearly worth recommendation.
