Lexar JumpDrive S73 16GB USB3 Flash Drive Review

Flash drives are everywhere. Most people have at least two or three. This makes the market for flash drives a fairly difficult one. To sell a flashdrive you need something to make it unique. Today I have one of Lexar’s latest drives, the JumpDrive S73 16GB.

Lexar is attacking the market mostly from a speed standpoint, this drive uses USB3 rather than USB2, allowing speeds significantly higher than is possible on the older USB2 standard.

You pay a price for the speed of course, the USB 16GB JumpDrive costs about double what the USB2 version costs.

If you have a need to shuffle large files onto or off of the drive it may well be worth it.

The JumpDrive S73 series is rated at 45MB/s read and 20MB/s write, pretty solid for a $16 16GB drive. We’ll get to the full product specs in a bit. First, some words from Lexar about Lexar.

Given that Lexar is owned by Micron, I expect we’ll find Micron flash inside this drive. If I can get it open without a hammer.
