Patriot Supersonic Rage Pro 512GB USB 3.2 Gen1 Flash Drive Review

Performance

Performance has been tested on the Intel Rocker Lake-S platform, which contains the i7-11700K processor and MSI Z590I Unify motherboard. Additional components are less important. What’s important is that all tests were performed in Windows 10 Pro x64 environment with the latest updates.

Let’s begin with the ATTO Disk Benchmark, one of the most popular applications designed to measure storage bandwidth.

The latest ATTO usually shows a bit lower results than expected, but we can see up to 438MB/s read bandwidth, so it’s more than declared in the specifications. Since this is a flash drive more often used to carry data, then the sequential bandwidth is the most important. On the other hand, if we run some applications from a USB drive, then random operations are also important.

To test random operations, we are usually using CrystalDiskMark. This is one of the best storage benchmarks, and it’s also free.

CrystalDiskMark results are close to what we can see on lower series SATAIII SSD. Sequential bandwidth is passing 440MB/s while random operations depend on used files and are going up to 30MB/s. This is an outstanding performance for a USB flash drive.

Below are also storage benchmarks made in the PCMark 10. Since most operations are random, then also, our results are lower but also respectable. Not many USB flash drives can reach this bandwidth. This is also a much better result than we can achieve on a USB HDD.

Anvil’s Storage Utilities benchmark usually shows lower bandwidth, which we can also see in this case. The maximum sequential bandwidth is 408MB/s what is still close to the declared maximum. This benchmark also shows IOPS that passes 7200 but depends on the run, which can go closer to 8000.

The performance of the Patriot Supersonic Rage Pro is exceptional for this type of storage. It’s fast in sequential and random operations, so it should be a great option for all those users who move larger data but still want to carry it in the pocket, without additional cables or power supplies.
