Toshiba TransMemory EXII 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

Performance

For performance tests has been used computer with ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard. Toshiba TransMemory EX-II was working on Intel USB 3.0 controller which offers really good performance.

Due to nature of USB ports, performance on some devices can be lower or higher so presented results may not show exact performance on every other computer or mobile device.

ATTO Disk Benchmark

 atto

ATTO results iare great and exceed declared by Toshiba bandwidth – nearly 234MB/s read and 208.5MB/s write. For some reason write bandwidth wasn’t so high during all test but manufacturers never guarantee constant speed as it depends from used files.

CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 x64

cdm

Read bandwidth in CrystalDiskMark looks even better than in ATTO achieving 235MB/s. Write is slightly lower than expected but it’s normal in this test. Random bandwidth isn’t best but is respectable for a flash drive and still much higher than HDD are offering.

Anvil’s Storage Utilities

Anvil’s benchmarks are showing similar situation as CrystalDiskMark with the only exception that sequential write bandwidth is slightly below 200MB/s. Probably different test file sizes are affecting these results the same as in ATTO. Since write is usually buffered then I don’t think we should really worry about it.

Toshiba TransMemory EX-II has been designed to move fast large files and for that it should be perfect.

General performance is really good and I don’t think anyone who decide to buy Toshiba TransMemory EX-II will complain. It’s one of the fastest flash drives on our market with really long warranty so for sure is interesting option.
