Gigabyte GTX 650 OC 2GB GPU Review

Photos Part Two: Dissection

I don’t recommend doing this, the paste that comes on modern Gigabyte GPUs is perfectly acceptable. Replacing it is not worth the risk of killing the card in my opinion. It may kill your warranty too. It probably won’t kill you, though.

The rear has four ram chips and a few other things. Ram chips are 256MB each.

The front, complete with messy TIM installation, this card has been apart before. We have four more ram chips, two phases of core power and one phase of memory power. Note the lack of a SLI connector, SLI is not possible on GTX650s. The ram is Samsung:

The core, once cleaned off, is pretty:

Let’s look at the power bits more closely. Red box is memory power, yellow box is core power:

The controller for core power is this character:

Moving along to the heatsink, we see that it was making good contact:

Up top we see the Triangle Cool Doodad, also the bracket the fan and shroud mount to:

Speaking of the fan:

That does it for pictures. Now on to performance testing!
