ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP Graphics Card Review

Toady, we’ll be taking a quick look at the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Graphics Card. This is the AMP edition and features a factory overclocked GPU running at a boost speed of 1845 MHz (default is 1530 MHz). It comes with a total of 1408 CUDA cores and 6GB GDDR6 ram, with a memory speed of 14 Gbps on a 192-bit memory bus.

If you’re not too bothered about ray-tracing, then Nvidia’s GTX 16-series will be right up your alley. The previous model from Nvidia which we reviewed last year, was the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and it did a great job in terms of performance, but lacks the essential Tenor and RT cores for ray-tracing of course.

When Nvidia released their SUPER series late last year, I was a little confused … I asked myself why? I then realize what Nvidia was trying to do was to halt AMD’s growing market share in the mainstream sector, where price/performance really matters.

So what’s the real difference between the GTX 1660 Ti and the GTX 1660 SUPER? Well, take a look at the table below. Appart from the obvious … like the number of CUDA cores and clock speeds, many users have already told us that there’s only a slight improvement if you go for the GTX 1660 Ti over the GTX 1660 SUPER, which currently costs around USD $20-30 more. What you’ll find is that Nvidia is trying to fill the gap between the GTX 1660 Ti and the less than impressive GTX 1660.

Here’s a quick comparison between the GeForce RTX 20 series and the GTX 1660 SUPER (default clock speeds)…

This is a dual fan card and is pretty compact in size, something ZOTAC is known for. They claim that most of the of the dual fan cards will fit in 99% of all chassis out there. From my experience … I have to agree.

We’ll be installing the ZOTAC Gaming  GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP edition in to our test rig, which will be comprised of an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor, ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X motherboard, along with 16GB of GEIL Super Luce DDR4-3000 ram.

I’m expecting some decent performance from this card, especially when you have a faster memory clock at 14 Gbps, with a higher memory bandwidth of 336 Gb/s. In fact, this overclocked AMP edition could perform almost as good as a GeForcre GTX 1660 Ti. OK enough talk, let’s start by taking a look at the specifications and features in our page…

You can buy the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER AMP (6GB GDDR6) Graphics Card for USD $239 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/2TLyAS8
