Today, we’ll be taking a look at the ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4 Motherboard. This motherboard aimed at the mainstream market, and utilizes the latest AMD B450 chipset which is suitable for both 1st and 2nd gen AMD Ryzen processors (both 14nm Summit Ridge and 12nm Pinnacle Ridge). It comes packed with a wealth of features which is quite surprising considering the price.
These include the new 7.1 channel audio supporting Creative Sound Blaster Cinema 5, Polychrome Sync for RGB, Gigabit LAN, PCI-E steel slots, 2 x M.2 slots for PCI-E Gen3x4 SSDs, 2 x USB 3.1 Gen2 (Rear Type-A+C), 6 x USB 3.1 Gen1 (2 Front, 4 Rear), supports triple monitors, as well as DDR4-3200+ OC and AMD CrossfireX.
The AMD B450 chipset is the follow-up to the original B350, which had some decent success amongst gamers and mainstream users since its initial launch in 2016. Not much has changed between the two, except for some extra features which includes the support DDR4-2667+, XFR2 Enhanced, Precision Boost Overdrive, StoreMi, and of course the support for all 2nd Gen Ryzen processors.
ASRock Inc. is established in 2002, specialized in the field of motherboards. ASRock strives to build up its own brand. With the 3C design concept, “Creativity, Consideration, Cost-effectiveness”, the company explores the limit of motherboards manufacturing while paying attention on the eco issue at the same time, developing products with the consideration of eco-friendly concept.
ASRock has been growing fast and become world third largest motherboard brand with headquarter in Taipei, Taiwan and branches in Europe and the USA. The young and vibrant company targets from mainstream to enthusiast MB segments for different kinds of users, owning reputation around the world market with its reliability and proficiency.
We’ll be testing this motherboard and comparing it against the ASRock AB350M Pro4, which we’re currently using as our gaming rig. I’m expecting the B450 chipset (which is optimized for all the 2nd Gen Ryzen processors), to give us some slight improvements over the original B350. But how much of an improvement? … we shall see.
Let’s continue and start by looking at the specifications and features of the ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4 motherboard on our next page.
