Computex 2018: MSI

MSI was out to seriously impress at Computex 2018 with the gaming gear, raising the bar higher and higher in hoping to get to elite status.

The MSI Pro 24X is a slimline all-in-one PC that measures just 6.5mm thin. It features an IPS panel, Intel Core i5-7200U CPU, Intel Optane technology, NVMe PCIe M.2 SSDs for super-fast storage, and according to MSI it will be easier to upgrade some parts compared to other all-in-one PCs.

The MSI Trident A series of pre-built gaming desktop is the first of its class to use an SFX form factor PSU which contributes to bringing down the chassis’ size. The product will ship in a 12-liter case which holds an 8th Generation Intel CPU inside and an MSI desktop GPU, which will enable the Trident A to power through most AAA games with ease despite its size.

The biggest question with computers built this way is always related to its thermals which can affect or throttle performance. The MSI Trident A will sport the brand’s Silent Storm Cooling system which uses three airflow streams to manage the heat. The SFF gaming PC will also have a tempered glass side panel and distinct Mystic Light RGB zones for illumination.

The 14″ PS42, is the newest addition to the MSI Prestige Series of laptops, packing an ultra-slim footprint with a weight of 1.19 kg and a height of 15.9mm. Despite its extreme thinness, the laptop is still able to handle up to Intel eighth-gen Core i7 CPUs and Nvidia GeForce graphics, plus a fingerprint scanner. MSI also claims that its battery can last more than 10 hours.

The GF series usually sits between the GP and GL series, and the new GF63 promises to leverage the advances MSI made with the GS65 and bring them back to a device with more conventional gaming notebook form-factor. It’s basically the gamer’s version of the former. As for specs, the GF63 features 8th Gen i7 Intel Core CPU, 4GB of memory either Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti graphics. It also features the same ultra-slim bezels found in the GS65 and a reported 7 hours of battery life.

We then turned the corner and wonder what the hell that loud whirling noise and the vast amount of hear was…..there could only be one thing in this day and age; a 48 card mining rig! At least MSI is putting older cards to work here as the 48 graphics card in this mining rig are their own MSI RX 470 cards.
