Meizu Launches The m3 note

Meizu launched its m3 note smartphone on Wednesday, April 6. The smartphone will go on sale in China from Monday, and registrations for the first sale have already begun. The smartphone has been launched in two versions; 2GB of RAM/ 16GB of inbuilt storage version priced at RMB799, and the 3GB of RAM/ 32GB storage version priced atRMB 999.

Meizu is a Chinese consumer electronics company based in Zhuhai, Guangdong. Founded in 2003 by Jack Wong, Meizu began as a manufacturer of MP3 players and later MP4 players. As of 2008, Meizu moved its focus from MP3 and MP4 players to smartphones, with their first smartphone being the Meizu M8. Meizu is one of the top ten smartphone manufacturers in China with 8.9 million units sold worldwide in the first half of 2015.

Running Flyme OS based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, the dual-SIM Meizu m3 note sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) LTPS display with a pixel density of 403ppi. Housed in a unibody aluminum enclosure, it is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 SoC (with 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1GHz), coupled with either 2GB or 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Inbuilt storage can be supplemented by microSD storage expansion (via hybrid dual-SIM).

The P10 SoC also includes an ARM Mali-T860MP2 GPU. This is ARM’s current midrange GPU, which features two ALUs per core instead of three ALUs per core like the high-end Mali-T880.

The Meizu m3 note has a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and PDAF autofocus, and also a 5MP front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Within the phone, a hefty 4100mAh battery can be found. The m3 note also possesses a fingerprint sensor with mTouch 2.1 technology, capable of recognizing fingerprints in 0.2 seconds.

Apart from 4G LTE support, the Meizu m3 note offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with BLE, and GPS/ A-GPS connectivity options. Onboard sensors include accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, and magnetometer. It weighs in at 163 grams, measures 153.6×75.5×8.2mm, and will be available in Grey, Gold, and Silver colour variants.

 

Meizu has also announced that the launch date for the flagship Meizu Pro 6 is just around the corner and will be launched on the 13th April. The Pro 6 supersedes the Pro 5 which was only launched in October last year.
