Scythe Mugen 4 CPU Cooler Review

Verdict and Conclusion

The Scythe Mugen 4 is a good cpu cooler for the price range, for a price of 36 Euros more you have much better cooling and better looks then the Intel or AMD stock cooler. With the Mugen, simple overclocking is not problem too, I just don’t recommend you to go overkill.

I like the aluminium heatfins, but you have to tread carefully you don’t bent all the fins. They are thin, light and a bit flexible, which is a good thing actually: its easier to release heat and stay cooler.

Pros:

  • Works with all Intel and AMD sockets
  • Good fan with sleeved cable
  • 12! heatpipes
  • Good cooling

Cons:

  • If you use Push/Pull or fan on side with RAM slots, you can’t populate the first 2 slots if you have high-profile RAM
  • Thermal past is a bit clumsy a tube would be better instead of the sac.

Final words

If you really want to heavily overclock you CPU with this cooler I really recommend to get another fan for a push/pull configuration and buy some better aftermarket thermal paste. But for stock speeds and even a 4.4GHz overclock it’s just fine.
