ADATA Premier Pro 16GB DDR4-2133 CL15 Memory Review

Conclusion

The ADATA Premier memory series is quite a good product. It is a basic DDR4-2133 memory but still fast enough for most users. However all those who need fast RAM should look at the higher series like XPG Z1 which is also widely available in our market and offers a higher memory clock.

We had no problems with stability of ADATA memory in all our tests. Even though it does not have an XMP profile, the SPD settings were working without issues and the motherboard set all of the timings without any problems. Since this memory is using standard SPD settings for DDR4-2133 then the performance is about the same as any other DDR4-2133 memory compatible with the JEDEC specification.

One thing worth to mention is the overclocking potential. The DDR4-3200 maximum clock is simply great for a DDR4-2133 kit. It is of course not guaranteed that every kit will make such a high clock but at least we know that we can count on more than only the standard DDR4-2133 CL15 settings.

The 16GB ADATA DDR4-2133 CL15 memory kit can be found in a couple of stores for about $200 USD. This is not a bad price for DDR4 quad channel memory. However, for about the same price you can also find the ADATA XPG Z1 memory which seems like a better idea.

Pros:

  • High overclocking potential
  • Reasonable price
  • Good performance after overclocking
  • Lifetime warranty

Cons:

  • Low performance without overclocking – still as good as any other memory which is using standard JEDEC DDR4 specification

Final words:

Deciding on the ADATA Premier memory you get what you are counting on, a high quality memory which meets the market standards for DDR4-2133. All who are starting with DDR4 memory and need a cheaper kit for the new X99 platform will probably be satisfied as the performance is good even without overclocking. As a bonus we get a really high overclocking potential which for sure is interesting for all enthusiasts with a lower budget. However, for those users probably the better idea would be to buy the ADATA XPG Z1 memory as the price is similar but it offers some more for more demanding users.
