Genesis Zircon 550 Wireless Gaming Mouse Review

Closer Look

The Zircon 550 mouse comes in a small box, which is different from that of the previously reviewed Genesis mice. The box is well described in a couple of languages and has key features listed on the box’s side. Everything we may want to know is printed on the exterior. There is also one more little difference as the latest Genesis products, released in the last weeks, have a different font, and the package design seems a bit sharper. Not a big difference, but I can clearly say that it makes a better impression.

Inside the box, besides the mouse itself, we will find a quick installation guide, a spare set of skates, and a USB-A to USB-C cable. Everything is well-protected and suggests that the product is high quality.

All mice recently reviewed by me have a design based on hexagonal holes. It’s very popular nowadays, looks interesting, lowers weight, and helps air circulation. However, there is no additional top cover if we wish to have a standard-looking mouse.

There is a USB receiver and an LED, power, and two modes switch on the back.

The most significant advantage of the Zircon 550 mouse seems to be its versatility. We can use it with a USB-C cable; we can use it wirelessly. We don’t need to buy batteries as it has one built-in. It’s also very light considering it includes the battery.

The mouse has seven programmable buttons, which are just right for most gamers. For those who play MMO games, I recommend the Xenon 770, which can have more buttons programmed.

The Zircon 550 mouse uses a PixArt PMW 3325 sensor and high durable switches. Previously reviewed Genesis mice had more precise sensors with DPI up to 16000. The Zircon 550 can go up to 8000 DPI what is still more than enough. Personally, I’m not using more than 3000-4000 while gaming.

The mouse feels comfortable and moves smoothly on the Genesis Carbon 500 mouse pad. There were also no problems on other surfaces, but it’s good to have a high-quality gaming mouse pad for the best results.

The Zircon 550 mouse arrived with the Carbon 500 Fire mouse pad. Since we usually present mice with XL mousepads, then this time it’s M size but manufactured in the same way as the best XL mouse pads from Genesis. The graphics on the Fire mouse pad is a large, burning Genesis logo. It looks expressive, and gamers should like it.

Below are additional photos with the Zircon 550 mouse and Carbon 500 Fire mouse pad. There are also a couple of RGB illumination modes. We can separately set RGB effects for the bottom bar and Genesis logo, which is looking at us from the mouse’s center.

I will tell you some more about the software and RGB lighting management on the next page.
