The Box and Packaging

Inside the box, you’ll find the motherboard, an installation guide, a regulatory notice, 1 x Thermal probe, 1 x SATA cables, 2 x M.2 screws, 2 x WiFi antennas, and a pair velcro straps for cable management.

 

The ASRock Phantom Gaming B850i Lightning WiFi Motherboard

This tiny motherboard comes in a Mini-ITX form factor measuring just 17.0 x 17.0cm, and supports all the latest AMD Ryzen processors, including the 9000, 8000 and 7000 Series on the AM5 socket. It features a 10+1+1 Phase Power Design and 110A SPS for VCore, on a 8-Layer PCB, which is cooled by large Aluminum Heatsinks.

 

A Closer Look

On the top of the motherboard, there are 1 x 8-pin PCIE power connectors (which needs to be connected), you’ll also find 2 x 4-pin PWM fan headers for cooling, and 2 x 3-pin ARGB header.

The motherboard comes with 2 x DDR5 DIMM slots, supporting both Intel XMP and AMD’s EXPO memory modules with memory speeds of up to DDR5-8200+ OC.

For expansion, you only get 1 x PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for next-gen graphic cards, but you get plenty of storage options. These include 2 x SATA ports, 1 x Blazing M.2 (PCIe Gen5x4) with heatsink and 1 x Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4x4) slots on the back of the motherboard.

The  motherboard offers up to 13 x USB ports and supports Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. On the back I/O panel, you’ll find 1 x 2.5GB LAN, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen1 port (Type-A), 1 x USB 3.2 (Type-C), 2 x USB Lightning gaming ports, 1 x HDMI output, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x connectors for WiFi 6E, a BIOS flash back button and for audio, you get 1 x optical S/PDIF Out connector, Line-out and Mic-in.
