Enermax CyberBron 700W 80+ Bronze PSU Review

A Closer Look

Even though the CyberBron is a mainstream PSU series, it looks great. Enermax is not saving much on quality, so we can expect a well-painted exterior and some details that cause it to look like a more expensive product.

Since it’s not a modular PSU, then all cables are built-in, and in smaller PC cases, we can have a problem hiding them. On the other hand, all cables are flat what is helping in the management. It also improves the airflow. Many users prefer modular series PSUs, but in the end, they use most cables from the set. This is worth considering as modular PSU series are usually more expensive while are not always better.

Once we open the PSU, we will see that the components are not really tight, and the radiators aren’t massive. It suggests that Enermax had no problems keeping stability and optimal temperatures.

The fan is from quiet series. Here we can see a Yate Loon 12V fan rated at 0.30A. This brand has a quite good reputation as their fans are usually quiet and perform well.

The PSU is designed to work at up to 88% efficiency what should be enough for most users.

All electrolytic capacitors are Japanese, but it’s hard to tell more details without removing them. The main capacitor is rated at 400V 390µF. As in all Enermax PSUs, also in the CyberBron series, soldering is on a high level. The PSU design looks clean. We can also see that the PSU itself could be shorter, but it would be hard to install a 120mm fan.

The CyberBron also offers multiple circuit protections like OCP, OVP, UVP, OPP, SCP, and SIP.

Performance

The test setup includes the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor, 32GB Ballistix MAX DDR4-4400 RAM, MSI X570 Unify motherboard, and ASRock RX6800XT 16GB graphics card. The maximum load of our setup was around 500W, with a continuous load at about 420W.

Tests are focusing on a maximum load while gaming. The additional test shows load during a typical daily work. The mixed load test simulates the PCMark 10 Extended test.

Let’s take a look at the test results.

Voltage regulation is perfect for this class of units. There were no problems with stability regardless of the load. The PSU was not getting really hot or loud during load what is also good, considering that most 80+ Bronze units that I had a chance to test were already loud at 50%+ load. Looks like one more well-done PSU from Enermax. Of course, we can’t compare it to 80+ Platinum units, but it has everything that most users need.

The CyberBron looks like a good option for gamers searching for a quite powerful yet quiet PSU at a reasonable price.
