I can’t say that Lexar Professional Worflow DD512 is the fastest drive on the market as SSD are faster. However most SSD are designed to work with SATA or PCIe connectors so are not so easy to move. Lexar DD512 is offering easy connection via USB 3.0 which is available in every modern computer or mobile device ( using adapters ). It’s also light so doesn’t make any problems to carry it from one place of work to another.
When we think some more about Lexar Professional Workflow storage devices then it’s hard to find anything similar on our market. There are many USB 3.0 drives but most of them are or larger or much slower while devices like DD512 have all in one little package.
Our performance tests were limited by USB 3.0 controller speed even though we tested couple of new and popular motherboards and laptops. I belive that declared bandwidth of 450MB/s is possible to acheve if we only find good enough USB 3.0 controller. However even if we won’t find it then performance of Lexar DD512 is still really good.
We can find Lexar DD512 in many online stores including Amazon for about $170 what is not cheap but quite reasonable price for so fast USB 3.0 storage device. Amazon page is also showing many good comments about this device so I feel we are not the only one.
Lexar is offering two year warranty for this product. Lexar is proviving great support so I wouldn’t worry about it but warranty period could be at least three years. On the other hand devices designed for business have usually no more than two year warranty.
