OCZ Agility 4 256GB SSD Review

Verdict and Conclusion

It’s pretty amazing what $200 will get you in the SSD world these days. Not that long ago $200 would barely buy a slow low end 120GB drive. Now it gives you a fast 256GB drive!

The packaging is a bit disappointing, but it served it’s purpose and got the drive to me in good shape.

The performance empty is excellent for the size and cost, very impressive.

With Windows installed it slows down somewhat, but not too much. It can’t match Sandforce read speeds, but it’s still quick and will run that speed regardless of whether the data is compressible.

Price wise, among new designs the Agility 4 256GB is price very nicely. It’s within 10% of the price of a Sandforce based Vertex 3 256GB, which seems odd to me.

I like how it looks, not that looks matter much on an internal device like a SSD.

All told there are pros:

  • Good speed. Lives up to marketing hype.
  • Looks nice.
  • Solid price.

The cons list is very short:

  • Packaging a bit flimsy.

All told it’s a solid drive deserving of a solid rating, I give it a 9.2/10. It’s definitely worth consideration for your next build.
