OCZ Radeon R7 – 240GB SSD Review

Conclusion and Verdict

In conclusion, the Radeon R7 is a great choice if you are in need of a decently priced gaming SSD. The 240 GB may not be enough storage for the size of the games right now but the 480GB has the exact same advertised speeds. I know I have 4 games installed that would barely fit on this drive. With games as of late requiring 60GB of download space, I see this becoming the next hurdle in the SSD world. I will soon be in need of a 2TB SSD that wont break the bank.

As of right now a lot of people I talk to only see the SSD’s price as affordable for using them as a boot drive. When I can buy and 1TB SSD for around a hundred dollars is when I will start using one as a gaming drive. Until then I will tolerate the grinding and whining my old HHD.

The OCZ Radeon R7 -240GB SSD can be found directly on OCZ’s website as well as other various e-tailers for around $132 USD.

Pros:

  • Stable/Reliable Performance
  • Sturdy construction
  • Excellent drive tools available with OCZ toolbox
  • TRIM Support
  • 4-year ShieldPlus Warranty
  • Low power consumption
  • Silent operation

Cons:

  • None

Final thoughts:

The OCZ Radeon R7 performed great and was right there in the read and write speeds as advertised. If you need an SSD and want to purchase one that is fair on their prices and have a great reputation, take a serious look OCZ. They offer great warranty’s with their SSD’s and their OCZ Toolbox and SSD GURU are great monitoring tools to keep your SSD in tip top shape.
