Photos Part One: The Box and Drive
The box is pretty classic OCZ, not much has changed there in a while. The colors and text are different of course, but the basic setup is not.
Right away we see something interesting, that looks like a metal case on the SSD. If it’s actually metal instead of plastic I’ll be happy.
To give you the Too Long: Didn’t Read version of the left panel: “You want this drive, it’s awesome”. They may well be right, really. I know I’ll never go back to booting off a mechanical HDD. If you don’t have a SSD you need one, badly! OCZ thinks this is the drive for you, we’ll see about that part soon enough.
For the moment, here’s the side of the box. I can hear you complaining about not seeing the drive, that’s next though!
OK almost next. When you slide the drive packaging out of the box, this side will probably be on top. That’s a bracket to mount the drive in a standard 3.5″ bay. It’s also very nice armor for the drive in transit.
Here we finally have the SSD, also a sack of mounting screws and a sticker I removed for a better shot of the drive.
Screws for mounting the drive to the bracket or a case, plus screws to mount the bracket. OCZ did a good job on this one.
This is the sticker you get now. I like it a lot more than the previous sticker. I do love my OCZ SSD.
Don’t fry the thing with static.
Finally, the drive itself. It is indeed metal. Steel, when you get down to it. This is a very solid case, much better than any plastic SSD case I’ve run into. I like it. It’s a bit thinner than previous drives too.
The Vector has a pretty nice feel to it when you’re holding it, the extra weight of the steel case makes it feel like it means business. It looks great, too.
