Patriot Blast 480GB SATA3 SSD Review

Performance

Performance has been measured using popular applications which are free so all our readers can easily compare results on their computers.

In all tests Patriot Blast was working connected to Intel SATA III ports on MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC motherboard. These ports are offering about the best performance you can get on a desktop motherboard.

Let’s begin with tests.

As usual first will be ATTO Disk Benchmark. We can see slightly higher read and slightly lower write bandwidth than the one declared by Patriot. It’s clearly one of the best results I’ve seen on SATA SSD. Read bandwidth is actually more important and I wouldn’t worry about writes as they’re cached anyway so users can’t really see any difference.

In CrystalDiskMark results are usually worse but in this case I see they’re better than in ATTO. In all tests performance is great – up to 564MB/s read and 536MB/s write.

Also random 4K read is high comparing to all other Phison based SSD I had a chance to test. In most tests it was above 36MB/s so about the best you can get on SATA SSD.

At the end Anvil’s Storage Utilities – 1GB and 4GB test files.

In both cases results are very good. Smaller test files are showing slightly better performance.

In all benchmarks results are comparable. Depends from used test files bandwidth is slightly higher or lower but general performance is always high.

There are not many SSD on the market which can offer similar performance so I think it’s a good option for all who expect good results from SATA SSD.
