I’ve allways been a fan of product boxes designed like this. Not only are they sturdy and generally provide good crush protection for their contents. But they are great for storing unused accessories or parts you want for safe keeping. Or if your really cheap and lazy like I am, a monitor stand.

Under the drive is nestled a nice collection of accessories, as well as mounting hardware. The USB wall wart for charging, the USB to dc power cable, and A type USB to micro b type cable. In the mounting hardware bag you get a mix of screws, thumb screws, bumpers/feet for anti skid, and a rubber grommet to go around the thumb screws to act as a vibration damper.

A side view reveals not only the ports but the small gap between the two outside surfaces of the case and the center. This is perforated somewhat as well to help provide airflow. The combination of a small mechanical hard disk or SSD, and a Lithium-ion battery can produce large amount of heat. In fact patriot even mentions this under FAQ. The device is coupled with some thermal protection to prevent damage in situation like extensive charging and use are both taking place at the same time. Which can possibly result in the USB interface being shut off due to an overload event.

We’ll crack it open on the next page.
