So let us first take a look at the packagaing and its contents before looking at the NAS and the Thecus OS.

So here you can see the packaging of the N2310, it is a fairly simple white box with a picture of the device it self and some features on it.

Then on the side we have some more specifications and app information.

Then here is what you get in the box: a driver cd, an ethernet cable, a warranty card, some screws for the harddrives a power cable and a power adapter. Then also you obviously get the NAS itself, which you can see below.

As you can see the device is packed very well, inside a plastic sleeve with on both sides some foam to make sure it did not get damaged in transit.

Then here we have a first look at the actual Thecus N2310, it is made out of rugged plastic with in the middle some more glossy plastic. That does not say it is or feels cheap, it feels pretty decent and strong. I am not suggesting to throw it of a building though.

Here is the front of the NAS, you can see the two drive bays, some LEDs, a USB copy button and a power button. We have a power LED, a system status LED, 2 HDD status LEDs, a LAN and a USB LED.

Then on the back of the device we see a fan to cool the device, I do find it a bit loud in comparison to my previous reviewed Synology DS214Se. Underneath the fan we see a kensington lock, a USB 3.0 and 2.0, a LAN port, reset button and power connector.

Installing hard drives is really easy, just open up a drive bay, slide it out, put in your hard drive and secure it with the included screws. Then slide it back in and you are all set.

The trays look a bit like regular desktop drive bays, what is good and easy to use. I do like this system more then the one on the Synology DS214se there you had to open op the NAS and install it inside.

Here you can see the hard drive I used, A Seagate Momentus 2.5″ 500GB drive, I used this because I did not had another 3.5″ drive available at the moment.

But installing was no problem, just screw it in and you are set.

Now let us take a look at the operating system of the Thecus N2310, the Thecus OS…
