TP-Link Archer C3200 Wireless Tri-Band Router Review

Specifications and Features

Main Features:

  • Tri-Band technology creates three separate Wi-Fi bands for connecting more devices to your network without a drop in performance
  • Combined 3200Mbps Wi-Fi speed over one 2.4GHz (600Mbps) and two 5GHz (1300Mbps each) bands
  • Smart Connect helps devices run faster by assigning them to the best available channel to balance network demand
  • Six high-performance antennas maximize coverage area and stability
  • 1GHz dual-core CPU and three co-processors handle simultaneous connections without interruption

We already know that Archer AC3200 is tri-band router but for what we can use it. TP-Link is giving us some tips which you can see below.

  • 2.4GHz – 600Mbps

Shopping online, streaming music, and browsing on laptops, tablets, and smartphones

  • 5GHz-1 & 5GHz-2 – 1300Mbps each

Gaming online and watching 4K video on consoles, performance PCs, and smart TVs

There are also devices which are not working at 5GHz band like TP-Link Smart Plug. For these devices you have to use 2.4GHz band. Review of the Smart Plug is also available on the Funky Kit.

Archer C3200 has been delivered with the latest firmware as for 20 Nov 2016. Since it’s in a retail package then I assume that you can get exactly the same version from any good store.

Archer C3200 has arrived in a retail box which contains everything you need to install it. There is manual, technical support sheet, quick installation guide, cables and power supply.

On the box you can see everything you need to know about the router. Archer C3200 is designed for the most demanding users and let us set three networks for various needs.

Outside looks is quite simple but that’s actually an advantage. Inside the router is quite strong processor which is taking care of additional load so also good if there is some airflow. Enclosure design is taking care of that. As you see there are multiple holes which are letting to air circulate and cool down the device.

Below are additional two photos of what you see when you open the box.

On the front of the router we can find multiple LEDs which are blue and are showing activity of all connections and additional devices like USB drives. There are also three buttons which are related to connections. Quite obvious and I think it doesn’t need additional explanation.

On the back of the router we can find two USB connectors and three LAN/RJ45. There is also button to reset router settings, power connector and power button.

All LAN/WAN connections support 1Gbit bandwidth. It’s more than enough to support most available Internet connections. I don’t think we will see 10Gbit connections anytime soon as these devices are really expensive and prices are not going down even though standard is on the market for some longer. In this case we are receiving the fastest available standard for home and office usage.

I won’t say more about specifications or performance now as all is on the next page of this review so let’s move there…
