HIS Radeon HD 7750 iCooler (1GB GDDR5) Review

Overclocking

Out of the box the card does not come with an overclock and does not come with overclocking software from the factory unless you count the catalyst control center overclocking. But that isn’t good enough and won’t hit the clocks we want today. Clocking the card I set the memory at 1255mhz which is right around where the memory is rated. I would have clocked it higher but I did not want to risk hurting the card. Overclocking the core it easily ran at 958mhz. Since the 7750 is essentially a downclocked 7770 it would be possible to run it at 1ghz like the 7770 BUT since there is no external PCI-E power we will have to stop before then. With a higher core clock this card could really do some serious damage in the price/performance category.

Temperatures:

Using the stock fan profiles built into the card I averaged around 39*C at idle and 55*C under load while using stock clocks. Once the card was overclocked I idled 40*C and loaded 60*C throughout testing. This number was spot on through most of testing.

3dMark Vantage

Physx Off:

vantage

There was only around a 500-point increase in vantage with overclocking. Not exactly a giant amount but an improvement none the less.

Heaven Benchmark

Direct X 9:

Again we only see a small increase in benchmarks. Maybe this card does not scale very well with overclocks?

Direct X 11:

dx11heaven

Another 40-ish point increase in a Heaven benchmark. Not exactly HUGE but it is still improving.

Far Cry 2

fc2

Around a 10% boost in performance from an easy overclock. Not too shabby at all.

Battlefield 3:

graph

While the game was playable in its stock state, the overclocks just made the game much more playable. The fact that it raised the average FPS up so much must mean that the card is a real beast if you give it the clocks it needs to tear through heavy-duty games like BF3!

Stalker: Call of Pripyat

cop

Overclocking did not help Call of Pripyat much at all.

Street Fighter IV

SF4

A 5fps boost is a solid increase and can actually be see in gameplay. This is one of those times when a higher FPS actually hurts things. You might want to run this game with v-sync on or it might run too fast.
