Zotac Geforce GTX 570 AMP! (1280Mb GDDR5) Review

Verdict and Conclusion

I have to say … I’m totally shocked to see, just how well the Zotac Geforce GTX 570 AMP! actually performed. Just take a look at the results in our benchmarks and see for yourself. You’ll find that the GTX 570 AMP! came out on top in every test … producing some excellent scores. It’s one of the fastest graphics card we’ve tested in our labs, and I’m more than sure it’ll be one of the fastest performing GTX 570 based cards out there … but bare in mind, we still haven’t reviewed the Geforce GTX 580 yet, so this will probably change. Still, the Geforce GTX 570’s great performance and features should be more than plenty to satisify even the most hardcore of gamers and enthusiasts.

This is the first card that we’ve tested and benchmarked using Futuremark’s 3D Mark 11, which was only released a couple of weeks ago. It’s the first full test benchmark suite specifically designed for DX11 based cards. And as you can see from the results in our default performance test (1280z1024) … the Zotac GTX 570 AMP! produced an impressive score of 4385.

These great results produced by the Zotac GTX 570 AMP! are all thanks to the overclocked GPU which runs at 780Mz (default is 732Mhz), coupled with the use of 1280Mb of GDDR5 ram on a 320bit memory interface. And to add to this, you also get all of Nvidia’s innovative 3D/graphic technologies. These include CUDA, PhysX, OpenGL 4.0, as well as support 3-way SLI, DX11, HDMI 1.4, HD movie playback and Nvidia’s 3D Vision.

What makes the Geforce GTX 570 extremely appealing is the price/performance ratio. The average non-overclocked Geforce GTX 570 will cost you around $350 versus $550 for a Geforce GTX 580 … so in terms of the price/performance is concerned, the GTX 570 will offer better value for money. It’s not as powerful as the GTX 580, but it still has plenty to offer. However having said that … $350 for a graphics card is still a big chuck of money to fork out.

For the extreme enthusiast, Zotac have included their FireStorm overclocking utility, which allow users to fine-tune and overclock their Geforce GTX 570 AMP! (which is already factory-overclocked) even further. A word of warning though … be careful not to over do it. It could cause damage to your PC hardware. With a pre-overclocked speed of 780Mhz, the graphics card can run a little warmer than your usual non-overclocked card. Load temps average between 46-48 degrees Celsius, peaking to around 52-54 degrees Celsius. For cooling, the card uses Nvidia’s standard reference design cooler, which I thought was a bit boring, but does an adequate job of cooling the overclocked GTX 570.

Another thing you’ll need to make sure when using the Geforce GTX 570 graphics card, is that you need a power supply with minimum output of 700W and 2 x spare 6pin PCI-E power cables. Luckily, Zotac have included 2 spare power cables within the package … so no problems there.

According to our partners Pricegrabber, the Zotac Geforce GTX 570 will cost you approximately USD $350 (GBP $250), but I think that’s for the standard version. The overclocked AMP! version will probably cost a little more … probably an extra $30 more. As I’ve said earlier, $350-380 for a graphics card is sill a large chunk of money to pay … but if you look at the price/performance ratio the Geforce GTX 570 offers, then it’s definitely worth considering.

Final words. The Zotac Geforce GTX 570 AMP! is one of the best performing graphics card we tested to date. It offers excellent performance at a great price. Featuring a factory-overclocked GPU running at 780Mhz, as well as an overclocking utility, the GTX 570 AMP! from Zotac is perfect for any hardcore gamer or enthusiast.
