I really enjoyed testing out the touch HD 12 from Rainmachine. The device was very easy to install and only took a total of 30 minutes to get it up and running. Everything was fairly self explanatory using the manual and set up wizard. I loved the fact that this device is Android based. If you are used to using Android devices, the everything should be as easy to use as it was for me. I had no problems using the touch screen, however, I would suggest downloading the application that goes with this device. Rainmachine has an application for both Android and Apple. You are able to change most of the settings using the applications, such as turning off and on each zone. I loved that I did not have to go outside to my shop for a simple task as turning my sprinklers off.
What really set the touch HD 12 apart from my previous controller is that this device downloads the weather from many different platforms. I was content to use the default platform, the NOAA. The NOAA seemed fairly accurate in the short time I had used the HD 12.
Downloading the weather many different times a day probably helped. Also allowing for pin point accuracy is that this device downloads the weather with in a 1.5 mile radius of your home address. I could tell with my first month bill that this device saved me money. The best part, my yard was just as green as when I left on vacation. Definitely leads to one last thing to have to worry about. If you are thinking about upgrading your sprinkler controller to a smart controller, I would definitely suggest checking out a Rain machine. The main feature of the HD 12, downloading weather data, worked wonderfully on my yard! This feature alone saved me money while also keeping my yard beuitiful. I would recommend this device to anyone who has a set it and forget mentallity, becuase this is exactly what this smart controller does! You can not go wrong by choosing the HD 12 being your next sprinkler controller, especially since the price is only 259 USDs!
