In Win 703 Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Installation

Installing my hardware into the 703 was not as easy when I installed the same components into the 707. I believe the size differential is the reasoning behind that. As stated earlier, the 703 is very small compared to the 707. Main problem is that their just isn’t the space for cable management between the motherboard and side panel. You will definitely want to run a power supply with the least amount of cables. The rest of the installation was a breeze. The tool-free optical drive worked just fine. Once you take off the windowed side panel, all you have to do is slightly press in one side of the ODD drive cover clips and push out. All I had left to do was to remove the ODD fastener. With a slight twist, the fastener pops right out. Slide your optical drive in place and twist the fastener back on. The fastener is strong enough to hold the ODD by itself, however with the fastener being a green color, you may want to replace it with a black screw.

Installing the 3.5 HDDs was fairly easy with how the trays slid in and out. In Win also sends rubber padding to absorb vibration and to reduce noise for the 3.5 HDDs. As stated earlier, to install a 2.5 drive involves a little bit of work. The HDD tray has a place to screw down your 2.5 drives. Above the hard drive bay, is the space and screw holes to secure another 2.5 drive. Other then that, the rest of the installation went with out any hiccups. The motherboard with the pre-installed standoffs fit perfectly, while there were enough cut-outs to maneuver the cables. There definitely could have been more room behind the motherboard and side panel and a little bit of better placement for the cut-outs.

Well that is about it, lets get to the final thoughts of the 703.
