The specifications are the same as for the ETS-F40-FS Silent Edition cooler, of course, except that the Solid Black edition is painted black. The cooler is designed to work with processors up to 200W+, so it should handle nearly every modern processor.

Package and its contents

The package of the ETS-F40-FS Solid Black is about the same as in the previously reviewed version of the ETS-F40-FS. The box is well described and includes everything we may need for the installation.

Enermax ETS-F40-FS is equipped with a quiet and high-performance 140mm fan. It spins between 300 and 1200 RPM, but you can expect closer to 900 RPM for the most time.

The heatsink is equipped with four heat pipes which are designed to directly touch the CPU’s IHS (integrated heat spreader). This design usually gives slightly better results than the one covered with a cold plate. As you can see in the photo above, The surface is flat and nicely covers new processors.

The cooler itself doesn’t have any RGB lighting but is painted black. It perfectly fits popular recently whole-black or mixed black and white PC. Not all users like RGB illumination, while most users like black PC products. Below you can check how the cooler looks with the MSI X570 Unify motherboard, which is also made with a black-on-black design in mind.

Installation

The installation is quite simple and shouldn’t cause issues to less advanced users. Everything is well described in the attached manual. The cooler could be installed on ATX and ITX size motherboards. Tests were performed on the MSI X570 Unify motherboard, as you can see in the photos below.

The installation itself takes about five minutes on both AMD and Intel motherboards.

On the next page of this review, we will take a closer look at the performance.
