Thermaltake SWAFAN EX12 ARGB PC Cooling Fan Review

Installation

We mounted all 3 SWAFAN EX ARGB fans on to the radiator of the Thermaltake ToughLiquid Ultra 360 AIO cooler. We didn’t encounter any issues whatsoever. Just make sure you line up the 8-pin spring loaded magnetic connectors correctly on each fan.

What I love about these new SWAFAN EX 12 ARGB fans, is that you don’t need any fan controllers, and there’s only one cable to power all 3 fans plus RGB too. Normally, for 3 ARGB fans, there a total 6 cables (3 for power and 3 for RGB). This allows for easy cable management for sure!

The ARGB lighting can be controlled by the software provided by motherboard manufacturer. The good news is that these fans are compatible with all the major RGB eco-systems out there, including Asus’s Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and ASRock’s Polychrome Sync.

Alternatively, you can also uses Thermaltake TT software to customize each individual LED for different colors, effects, brightness and more.

Cooling Performance

Idle temperatures for our Core i9-13900K was around 38 degrees Celsius, which is pretty normal and nothing out of the ordinary. Fan speeds range from a low of 1,859 rpm to high of 2,436 rpm.

At full load, temperatures reached a high of 99 degrees Celsius, which as we expected for a Core i9-13900K (with Turbo boost at 254W).

Fans speeds reached a high of 3,391 rpm during full load.
