Cougar Fortress Gaming Backpack Review

Un-Packing the Package

While there isn’t much of an unboxing here Cougar has packaged the bag well enough to protect during shipping as well as any needed inormation on tags anntached to the zippers.

Features

One of the major things Cougar pushes with this bag is customization and giving users the ability to modify the bag for different use cases. One of the was they do this is with a clip on shoulder strap. The strap and clip are made very well and feel very durable.

If you’re more into backpacks then you can use the Fortress bag as one by pulling the back pack straps out of the back of the bag and cliping the straps in. This is my ppreferredway to use this bag due to the weight of everything I put in it. The straps feel really sturdy and the straps are thick and padded a bit too to help with comfort.

You can also carry this bag like a typical laptop bag, while the straps for this are really well made as expected I didn’t carry the bag this way simply due to weight.

There’s also an integrated lock built into the side of this bag. The lock is very well made and definitely feels difficult to break into. One caveat is the lock only locks the large pouch, while this is where you’ll be putting your most valuable items like a laptop it does leave anything in any other areas on this bag unlocked.

One of the main things I’ve noticed is Cougar has put a ton of thought into adding features I wouldn’t even think about but end up being great additions. One place where this is shown is the extra vibration absorbing padding inside both laptop sized pouches. This is a really smart addition that will help against damage if you happen to drop this bag while carrying a laptop.

As well as padding your valuable equipment Cougar has provided a ton of padding for your back, the padding is really well made and there’s enough here to make carrying everything you need as comfortable as possible.

I was blown away by how much storage space Cougar managed to throw into this bag. There’s one zipper pouch on the front which is the perfect size for pens or smaller items, inside the first large area you have two screwdriver holders, two zipper pouches and a couple of pouches with elastic (this area is perfect to use as a toolkit), in the next large area you have two large pouches perfect for laptops or any large gear you may have as well as two elastic pouches which is great for a gaming mouse and any other cables you want to bring with you. There’s even storage on the back and side of this bag with a small zip up pouch on the back and a zip up/elastic pouch on the sides, these are great for small items that you need to be easily accessible like a phone charger or earphones.

This definitely was one of the major strong points of this review and it puts this bag above a lot of other bags and backpacks in the same price range.

Now onto the rest of the review!
