Patriot Viper Elite 5 RGB 64GB DDR5-6200 Memory Kit Review

Package and its Contents

The Viper Elite 5 memory arrived in a retail package that is about the size of the typical flat box, similar to what we could see in the Xtreme 5 series, but this time it’s white. The front shows a picture of the memory kit and its general specifications, while on the back, we can read some more about the memory series and find support contacts and links to Patriot websites.

Inside, we will find two memory modules and a sticker with the Viper Gaming logo. There is no additional manual, but it’s not required as the installation is straightforward, and every motherboard has an installation guide.

Inside the box, we will find two 32GB memory modules rated at DDR5-6200 CL42-46-46 1.35V. It’s quite an unusual specification as, looking at other Patriot DDR5 memory series, we would expect a bit tighter timings.

The modules are 44mm tall, so they should fit under most large tower CPU coolers. On the other hand, most cooler brands already corrected their products, and nearly every CPU cooler works with tall memory modules.

Heatsinks have a new and easy-for-the-eye design. Minimalistic, but hard to dislike them. Heatsinks keep memory chips and PMIC cool enough to maintain stability and have additional headroom for overclocking. Temperatures at the XMP profile under load were below 60°C, so they were relatively low.
On top of each module is an RGB light bar. The RGB illumination works well on ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI motherboards. It should also work with less popular brands like Biostar or Colorful.

The Viper Elite 5 memory looks amazing on our test rig. Below are some photos taken during work.

On the next page of this review, we will take a closer look at the performance.
