Conclusion and Verdict
Earlier this summer in 2023, we reviewed the Patriot Viper Gaming Venom RGB DDR5-7200 32GB Memory Kit, which offered excellent performance and decent overclockability. And I’m stunned to say, the Viper Xtreme 5 DDR5-7600 memory kits is on another level!
With XMP 3.0 enabled and all memory settings on AUTO, the Patriot Viper Xtreme 5 DDR5-7600 performed exceptionally well. During the AIDA64 memory tests, we got a Memory Read speed of 113.64 GB/s, a Write speed of 96,007 MB/s and a Copy speed of 101,830 MB/s. Right now I have to say, these are currently THE fastest DDR5 memory modules we’ve tested to date in our labs.
For cooling, the Patriot Viper Xtreme 5 DDR5-7600 memory kits comes with some nice black Aluminium heatspreaders with a Viper-head design. Full load temps reached a high of 52 degrees Celisus. It’s higher than I expected, but the heat speaders seem to be doing an adequate job of cooling the ram.
For RGB lovers, it’s compatible with all the major RGB eco-systems out there including Asus Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and ASRock’s Polychrome Sync. You can also download Patriot’s own RGB Sync software allowing you can customize your RGB lighting effects to your liking.
During our tests, we noticed that hese memory modules uses SK Hynix memory ICs, which are known to overclock very well. So as far as overclocking is concerned, I was extremely pleased to say I was be able to overclock these memory modules to whopping DDR5-7800, just shy of DDR5-8000. All I did in the BIOS was to increased the memory speed to DDR5-7800, and made sure the XMP 3.0 profile was enabled. All other settings were at default. Amazing!
Before I close with my final thoughts, I have to remind you that not ALL motherboards can support XMP at these high speeds. The ASRock Z790 Taichi (Lite) motherboard in our test rig seems to work great with these memory modules. I would definitely recommend you check your montherboard’s QVL list for memory compatibility.
Final Thoughts
The Patriot Viper Xtreme 5 DDR-7600 32GB memory kits are not designed only for the extreme hardcore overclocking enthusiasts, but also for anyone with a XMP compatible motherboard that can support these memory kits. You can expect excellent performance, great aesthetics, and of course good overclocking ability.
