Cooler Master Havoc Mouse Review

First Impressions

Packaging on the Havoc is just a standard affair with a picture of the mouse on the front of the box with a flame behind it that intends on appealing to gamers. Aside from that you get basic mouse information all over the box. Nothing you wouldn’t expect consdiering the words “professional gaming mouse” are boldly used.

Opening the box it isn’t exactly exploding with accessories. The mouse as well as a warranty information card and a user manual page are included. If you are planning on using the Coolermaster Software be prepared to download it off the website. If not, you should be good to go without needing any sort of software except the drivers built into the OS of your choice.

Closer Look

The Havoc is certainly an interesting mouse. It uses both glossy plastic and matte plastic on the shell. Personally, I really wish Cooler Master just stuck with the matte plastic since the glossy surface has a tendency to attract dirt and oils from fingers. If you are a lefty look elsewhere for a mouse because the Havoc is a righty-only mouse. I mean it is possible to use it left handed but it would not be comfortable at all. The switches in this mouse are supposedly top of the line and through testing nothing indicated they were not Clicking buttons on the mouse was very crisp.

Testing

Testing was done mostly with some FPS gaming. The adjustable DPI is nice but since the DPI goes so high the stock gaps between the four modes on the mouse are pretty big gaps in mouse sensitivity. Cooler Master does however have a software suite which allows those gaps to be made closer or exaggerated depending on what you prefer.

Mouse tracking was quite good across the board. I never had any tracking issues throughout testing. The mouse performed well on a cloth mousepad as well as a plastic mousepad. Even using the mouse on a black-glass desk was possible. Granted tracking on the glass was not ideal it did okay and was usable if there is no other alternative.

Overall I would say this device does a solid job at tracking and gaming. I even felt comfortable using the mouse in photoshop so those of you out there who are into graphic design and things of the sort can feel at home with the Havoc.
