Razer Huntsman Elite Opto-Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Razer Synapse 3

Maximize your unfair advantage with Razer Synapse 3, the unified hardware configuration tool that takes your Razer device to the next level. Get access to advanced options and granular control as you rebind buttons, assign macros, personalize device lighting and more.

When you install the Razer Synapse 3 driver software, you can simply set or change the function keys the way you want, through the various functions on the software (such as the picture on the left).

And you can also program your function keys (such as the picture on the right). After you press record, you can then press the function key you want to program, and then press stop … it will save the button you pressed (Marco 9).

When you are in the macro (as shown on the left), you can choose any button. Suppose I selected the W button, then select Marco 9 and save, and then press the W button, it will execute the instructions of Marco 9 (the right picture).

In the picture below, you can use the Razer Synapse 3 software to use its preset lighting effects (as shown on the left), or customize a set of lighting effects you want for each button (as shown on the right).

Verdict and Conclusion

Wow, this RAZER Huntsman Elite is in my opinion, an excellent gaming keyboard. Thanks to its low actuation force of only 45g, not only are the keys responsive and fast, but also very light to touch, without losing any of that mechanical feel. You can use the software to program the keys, customize your macros, record the desired key execution commands, and even change the key’s functions on the keyboard at anytime. For someone like me, who like to play a lot of games and even for e-sports players, these functions are quite useful. After I programmed some of the keys to run certain commands, it can be executed at anytime, which is really handy.

In terms of performance, the Razer Huntsman Elite keyboard uses Optical Switch which enables actuation via light. When you press a key the light beam instantly passes through the switch stem, which is when actuation happens. It then sends a corresponding signal to your computer to perform the intended action. All of this enhances the speed and precision during gameplay. The keyboard also has dedicated multimedia control keys, such as “fast forward”, “rewind” and “pause/play” functions, allowing you to quickly switch or access your music.

For RGB lighting effects, you can use its preset lighting effects, or customize a set of lighting effects you want for each button, and your keyboard will then become more unique. In addition to the lighting effects of the keys, there’s also a 4-side underglow and 38 customization zones. Powered by Razer Chroma™.
