Mice & Keyboards

Steelseries Kinzu V2 Pro Edition Review

First Impressions

The box is your standard black Steelseries box with orange lettering. You get to see the mouse in the box which is nice. Around the box you get to see some of the various features that the mouse has. Opening the package up you get the mouse and a manual. Gone are the days when you would get a Steelseries sticker with your purchase. Drivers can be found on the Steelseries website at Steelseries.com/downloads

Closer Look

If you are a fan of mice with a slick, shiny surface this mouse will be fantastic for you. But if you do not like those types of mice this will not be a great fit. This mouse gets very dirty quickly due to the surface on the mouse. It is a slick black plastic so all of the dirt and oils from your hand will show up on it after a day of use. The sides of the mouse are a non-slick plastic and that feels great. Dirt doesn’t show up on there at all which is what I like in a mouse.

Clicking the mouse it feels very nice, there are no cheap switches at work here. With that there aren’t a ton of buttons either. You get three buttons and a scroll wheel. Getting used to having no thumb button takes some work, but you will eventually learn to live without it.

Tracking on the Kinzu v2 is great on a cloth mousepad. On a shiny black glass desk tracking is terrible. The moral of the story is to get a good mouse pad with this mouse!

Testing

Gaming on the Kinzu v2 is a pleasure to do. Various game types were fun and if you have been using a mouse with a thumb button it takes getting used to not having that. But aside from that thumb button there is not a whole lot of difference from a Mouse like the Kinzu v2 and something much more expensive.
