Blackberry Z10 Smartphone Review

Conclusion and Verdict

When Blackberry announced the Z10 late last year, I didn’t think much of it. But having the phone physically in my hands and giving it a full Funky Kit grilling … I have to admit, I was pretty impressed.

What makes the Blackberry Z10 so unique, is the fact that it offers everything you’ll find on a touchscreen smartphone as well as all the best bits that Blackberry has to offer. Things like Blackberry’s BBM (messenger), secure emails and easy-to-use user interface.

This is the phone Blackberry should have launched 2 years ago! If they did, they probably would have kept their market share and still hold their position as one of the major players in the industry.

Sadly, they’ve come a little too late … still, I think the majority of die-hard BB fans will find the Z10 a refreshing change from the usual trademark QWERTY keyboard (with physical keys). If you don’t like touchscreens at all, and still prefer to have the QWERTY keyboard, then why not go for the Blackberry Q10.

What they really need to do next is to beef up their Apps store. The current apps on offer on Blackberry App World is a little lame when compared to Apple’s App Store or Google’s Play.

Having said that, I think there’s a real chance that Blackberry can actaully turn things around this year. Their OS 10 could be the winning formula, in fact Blackberry is so confident that there’s been a rumor of releasing a tablet based on the OS 10 later this year.

Pros:

  • Good user interface with smooth scrolling
  • Great for emails and social media
  • Ideal for business users
  • Simple setup
  • Dual-core CPU
  • SD Card slot / HDMI slot

Cons:

  • Lack of decent apps
  • It’s a Blackberry
    (not cool enough for some)

Final Words. Initially, I had some doubts about Blackberry Z10. I said to myself … give me any smartphone and I would be happy, but a Blackberry, seriously? But how wrong was I. As it turns out, the Z10 was way better than I expected. With a good user interface, social media integration and easy-to-navigate menus, the Blackberry Z10 is not just for business users but a serious alternative to the iPhone or Android phones. The only thing that it lacks are decent apps, which I’m sure Blackberry will be working on it.
