ANACOMDA i4-X Firery Serpent PCIE Gen4 1TB SSD Review

Test Rig

For our tests, we used our Test Rig which consists of an ASRock Z690 Taichi Razer Edition motherboard, along with an Intel Core i7 12700KF processor, 32GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR5-5600 and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card.

Installation

Describe the installation process. How easy was it and was there anything to be aware of.

Please take note, as I’ve said before DDR5 ram is not compatible with DDR4, the notch on the memory module is positioned slightly different.

AIDA64 Disk Information

As you can see from AIDA64 disk information, the ANACOMDA i4-X Firery Serpent supports PCIE 4.0 Gen4x4 and has a storage space of 1TB. It shows a total formatted capacity of 953,869MB, which is about right for a 1TB drive when you take it in to consideration.

It doesn’t show the full name of the SSD controller, but we do know it uses the Phison PS5018 E18 SSD controller and comes with dynamic SLC cache support.

CrystalDiskMark

CrystalDiskMark is a disk benchmark software. It measure sequential reads/writes speed, measure random 512KB, 4KB, 4KB (Queue Depth=32) reads/writes speed, select test data (Random, 0Fill, 1Fill), provide theme support and Multi-Language support.

During our CrystalDiskMark 4GB test we managed to get a Read speed of 6,740 MB/sec with Write speeds of 5,866 MB/sec. It peforms slightly lower than advertised at 7,000 MB/sec which is dissapointing, but it is not far off of that figure still making it a fast performing SSD.

ATTO Disk Benchmark

ATTO has created a widely-accepted Disk Benchmark freeware software to help measure storage system performance. As one of the top tools utilized in the industry, Disk Benchmark identifies performance in hard drives, solid state drives, RAID arrays as well as the host connection to attached storage.

Anvil Storage

Anvil’s Storage Utilities is a powerful tool that was designed in order to provide you with a simple means of assessing the read and writer performance of your Solid State Drive or Hard Disk Drive.

In our Anvil tests, we managed to get a 4K QD16 Read IOPS score of 217,524.50. While 4K QD16 write IOPS score was at 477,119.35, which are outstanding figures.

Load Temps

Full load temperatures reached a high 57 degree Celsius, which is decenty low. I’m guessing the low power consumptiom of DRAM-Less SSD controller, paired with the lower read/write speed actually helped in reducing the temperatures.

PCMark 10 – Full System Drive Benchmark

The Full System Drive benchmark uses a wide-ranging set of real-world traces from popular applications and common tasks to fully test the performance of the fastest modern drives.

This benchmark writes 204 GB of data to the drive over the duration of the test. This data is deleted when the test ends.

To run this test, you need a minimum of 80 GB of free space on the drive, 8 GB of RAM, and a quad-core CPU.

PassMark 10

Fast, easy to use, PC speed testing and benchmarking. PassMark PerformanceTest allows you to objectively benchmark a PC using a variety of different speed tests and compare the results to other computers.
